Click below to see the photographs. Pacheca PACHECA is the northern of the Archipelego of LAS
PERLAS, which
consists of 60 tropical Islands spread between 35 and 70 miles southeast
of PANAMA on the PACIFIC side. PACHECA is only 35 miles far from
the city of PANAMA and 2 miles from the very touristic Island of
CONTADORA, provided by Airport, Hotels, Casino, Restaurants and
Supermarkets. ELEVATION: 250 ft. (80 mt) TEMPERATURE: 80F (27 C) all year
HURRICANES: never reach this part of the world. BEACHES: 7 wonderful, white sand, well protected by winter trade winds blowing from Northwest. PRICE : $1,500,000 The name of the most beautiful beach is "Punta Blanca". Its length is over 300 yards. Flora: 90% of the total area of Pacheca is covered by semi-dry tropical forest. Many trees change their leaves during the winter: the Smithsonian Tropical Institute has classified 113 species of plants. Flowers like Ibiscus, Heliconia, Ginger and Orchids (Dendrobium) are very common. FAUNA: Pacheca is also know as the "Bird's Island" of the Archipelago. About 120 species of birds live and breed there. The same Smithsonian has evaluated their number up to 2 millions in the breeding season (March - April). They are mostly Pelicans, Cormorants and Fregates, and they leave Pacheca on July - August, when their chickens become adult. There are also thousands of resident birds like Herons, Boobies, Aigrets, Oyster-Catchers, Colibri, etc. No poisonous insects or animals that can be dangerous live in Pacheca. SHELL COLLECTORS and UNDERWATER PHOTOGRAPHERS can find in the rich waters surrounding PACHECA an enormous interest for the great variety of Marine Life. Many colorful tropical fishes, endemic of the Pacific Ocean like this nice "Pomacanthus Imperator", live in the coral areas. Over 110 specimens of seashells have been collected and studied, starting from the Pearl-Oyster to the large, edible Conchs. WATERS & FISHING: warm waters of the Pacific Ocean, very rich in Plankton, abunds in all kind of edible variety of fish like Merous, Snappers, Tuna, Mackerels, Shrimps, and Lobsters, etc. Either from a boat with a line or free diving with a spear, fish is always in your daily menu. Huge Ray-Mantas and Turtles are also moderately common. FRESH WATER: unlike the most of the other Islands of the Archipelago, Pacheca has its own fresh water, that can be pumped by an oldand historical well, built in the 18th Century and restored in 1984. The rich and fertile soil of Pacheca and the natural fresh water coming from the well, allow the growing on all kind of tropical fruits like Bananas, Mangoes, Avocados, Citrus, Papayas, Guavas, Guanabanas, Passion-Fruits and others. The farming of Yucca, Mais, Otoe, Watermelon, Tomatoes, Peppers, and many other Vegetables is also possible. Coconuts abunds everywhere in the Island. PACHECA is a private property, protected by a regular Panamenean Corporation. The Corporation can be sold or leased to any Citizen, resident, or alien. The cost of the Corporation is only $350 per year. Local currency is the US Dollar. Panamenean Government, very stable and democratic, respects and protects all the private properties: moreover, it helps with special tax exemption for all foreign Citizens who invest money with the purpose to promote the tourism. PACHECA despite the proximity of the Civilization, still today is a primitive, natural Paradise. Its forest, beaches and waters are not contaminated.
